Medical Equipment Planning Resources on the Web

Technology advances quickly and keeping abreast of the ever changing medical equipment and healthcare environment is an important challenge to healthcare professionals including medical equipment planners. One way to keep up to date on these changes is by participating in webinars and other training.

There are many free webinars available, which are relevant to the medical equipment planner. Some recent topics have included wireless advances in healthcare, Vendor Neutral Archiving, Cloud Technology, Integration of Physician office EMR systems and medical equipment, advantages of a patient portal for EMRs, Imaging advances in CT and MRI just to name a few.

Finding these webinars is relative easy, using LinkedIN. First connect with other experts in the field of medical equipment planning, their advice and guidance is priceless. Also, you should join at a minimum the following groups on LinkedIn. AAMI – Technology Management Council this is where most clinical experts network. HIMSS – Health Information and Management Systems Society find information an healthcare informatics on this group. ASHE – American Society of Healthcare Engineering you’ll find more facility and construction information here. Two other great groups are Diagnostic Imaging and Healthcare Design.

The internet is also another resource to look for relevant information related to equipment planning and technology advancement. You can go straight to the vendor’s website, each vendor is different but at the minimum there are brochures and articles. One major medical equipment vendor has training videos on their website.

One final place that relates to imaging equipment is a website called AuntMinnies.com. This is a great source of information, and they also have a buyer’s guide to compare imaging systems.
